About the Event
Mid City Artists (MCA), a visual art collective in the vibrant Mid City neighborhood of NW Washington DC, opened its studios to the public on May 17 and 18, 2014. With studios spread across the area from Dupont Circle to Logan Circle, the weekend offered visitors a rare opportunity to tour working artists' spaces, meet the creators, and see art in the setting where it is made.
The event was free and open to all, with refreshments and conversation throughout both days. Visitors could explore a diverse range of work — painting, sculpture, mixed media, and more — while walking between studios in one of DC's most culturally rich corridors.
Creative Genius Badge Program
Attendees could participate in the Creative Genius badge program, which offered discounts at supporting neighborhood businesses during the open studio weekend. The program encouraged visitors to explore local shops, cafés, and restaurants while making their way between artist studios.
About Mid City Artists

The group brings together professional artists living and working in the neighborhoods between Dupont Circle and Logan Circle, fostering community engagement through open studio events, exhibitions, and collaborative programming.
Open studio events like the Mid City Artists weekend offer a unique opportunity for emerging and established artists alike to connect directly with local audiences in a relaxed, accessible setting. For artists, these tours serve as valuable professional development experiences, allowing them to present their work, practice communicating about their creative process, and build relationships with collectors, curators, and fellow creators. ArtSee understands the power of such community-focused programming and works closely with artists and arts organizations to facilitate meaningful exhibition opportunities that increase exposure and support long-term career growth. By bringing together creative professionals and engaged viewers in welcoming spaces, open studio tours help reshape traditional gallery models and foster the kind of collaborative, enthusiastic artistic community that ArtSee strives to support through its full range of arts management and communications services.
