About the Exhibition

Curated by Roxanne Goldberg, Kes Schroer, and Serena Bianchi, art + evolution juxtaposed photography by GWU anthropology students — taken during their archaeological excavations and fieldwork — with works in sculpture, ceramics, mixed media, and video by local and student artists. The exhibition ran from March 25 through April 4, 2013, with a single opening reception on the evening of March 28.

The show explored the intersection of scientific observation and artistic expression, placing documentary images from the field alongside contemporary studio works. Admission was free and open to the public.
