What we're doing this weekend: May 18

After such beautiful weather for a Friday, we are certainly looking forward to an art filled day tomorrow! In addition to checking out any current gallery shows, public art or hitting any of the other usual suspects, tomorrow will be spent mostly one on one with artists in their studios. Here are our Saturday plans:

52 O St Studios: One of DC's most creative spaces will open its' doors to show off the unique collective of artists that call it "home". The work of the artists at 52 O St includes performance, film, photography, craft, painting and fashion. Attendance is free but for more information click here.

Mid City Artist Studio Tour: In its' tenth year, the Mid City Artist group kicks off summer with their bi-annual studio tours. Featuring open studio hours for over 10 different artists throughout the Dupont, Logan Circle and U Street areas, these studio tours are an amazing chance to get to know local artists, their practice and see their new work. The tours run all day Saturday and Sunday (with different hours for each artist), refer to their website for details.

Project 4: MY KIND OF MAGIC Opening: Guest curated by Brooklyn based artist, Beau Chamberlain, the show explores the studio rituals of ten artists from New York, Washington DC, and Toronto. My Kind of Magic explores the unique techniques, practices and results of an artists work. Opening from 6-8 pm at the U Street location 1353 U street NW, Suite #302.

And for folks out in Virginia... The Arlington Art Center opens the WPA Options 2013 show. Featuring some of the DC area top artists, the show will kick off with a curator talk at 4 pm tomorrow, with a reception to follow. For more information click here. (Featured photo courtesy of AAC)
